Wakefield Local Plan Consultation – Our Review of the Plan

Last week, CPRE West Yorkshire submitted our response to the Wakefield Draft Local Plan consultation. Some elements of the plan are to be applauded, but we were disappointed to see that the plan is still wedded to development what creates a dependency on car travel for the next generation.

Wakefield has huge potential to develop more sustainable ways to travel, live and work through the choices that it proposes, but in our view, these opportunities are being missed. Once made, these decisions will be impacting the District for generations. You can read our full review here.

Due to the second lockdown and the continued restrictions due to Covid-19 across West Yorkshire, the consultation deadline has been extended to the 31st December. We hope that our review provides some food for thought and helps others to get involved and have their say about the kind of future they want to see for Wakefield District.
