Unlike many environmental charities, CPRE has no vested interests – we own no land, rely solely on donations and grants, and are politically independent.
In West Yorkshire, CPRE works to protect, promote and enhance our amazing, beautiful countryside. We campaign to connect people to their countryside and empower them to shape it. We aim to demonstrate how immensely varied and valuable it is, and defend it against threats including inappropriate developments. We want a countryside that is fit for the 21st century and rises to the challenges posed by climate change.
CPRE West Yorkshire currently have two major campaigns – links and further details below.
Ways of Seeing West Yorkshire
Ways of Seeing West Yorkshire is a two-year project to show that the countryside on our doorstep is chock-full of fascinating people, places and interests. This is a programme of online magazines, events, research and writing. We would love you to get involved!Find out more
21st Century Countryside
21st Century Countryside is our emerging agenda for the future of West Yorkshire’s countryside (including urban green spaces). This is all about the changes that we’d like to see, and to help make happen, to ensure that the many things people value about the countryside have a real influence on decision-making.Find out more
