Leeds Site Allocations: CPRE’s latest response
CPRE has just responded to the latest stage in the long process of Leeds preparing its Site Allocations Plan (SAP).
The SAP identifies where sites will be allocated for the amount of new development Leeds intends to provide over the next 20 years, and this includes some large incursions into the Green Belt.
The ‘pre-submission changes’ document outlines some tweaks that Leeds has made to the SAP since it published the draft document in 2015. The new version will be the subject of a Public Examination by a government-appointed Inspector.
CPRE doesn’t accept that the case for the Green Belt losses stacks up. And we don’t think the resulting development will be good enough, or in the right places, to achieve a sustainable future for Leeds and the surrounding countryside.
